Someone Has Finally Spoken Up For The Pat’s Hot Dog

Someone Has Finally Spoken Up For The Pat’s Hot Dog

For years, it has lingered in obscurity, but this week, a spotlight finally was finally put on what is perhaps the very lowest-key Philly classic: The hot dog at Pat’s Steaks. Long known among lifers and drunks and folks with a devil-may-care attitude towards their colon, the hot dog has been an outlier on the Pat’s menu for longer than you have been alive. (Its menu-mate, the fish cake, is an even deeper, danker cut, which some do indeed swear by even more than the hot dog.)

Perhaps no more, though: None other than Chef Michael Solomonov just blew up the spot. Speaking in a promo video that’s part of this Resy collab he’s doing with Pat’s — which sounds bougie as hell but then again, we’re eating it for lunch today, plus, we did say that the cheesesteak belongs to the world now —  Solomonov speaks lovingly of this hidden gem in the video above. We’ll let him take it from here, but also pause to welcome/pour one out for the Pat’s hot dog: We knew you when, old friend. Please don’t move to one of those shit new houses in Fishtown.
