The #Yoasis: Pentridge Station

The #Yoasis: Pentridge Station

On reading about our first #Yoasis, a reader hipped us to another one -- the Pentridge Station Pop-Up Beer Garden. Even her briefest description exuded #Yoasis vibe:

“[It’s a] former empty lot, [and] has retained many lot-like properties despite recent upgrade to place of commerce. These qualities-- wood chips, murals and graffiti, hollowed out shortie school bus, etc.-- are by far its best. The cocktails are pretty good, too [and] worth an early evening peep.”

This checks out: Pentridge is a West Philly community beer garden partnership with Dahlak Paradise, and while there’s a robust calendar of events, the vibe is such that even when it’s poppin’, it’s also bathed in wonderful golden-hour mood. “The sun sets behind a tall building at around 7pm,” Pentridge’s Joceyln DeGroot-Lutner told us, “so arrive around then for the most options in places to sit and a short line at the bar and food vendor, perfect place for an outdoor dinner.”

Drinks on offer include local brews in can and on tap, with cocktails made with fresh ingredients straight from their garden. It’s kid-friendly, it’s date-appropriate, and it’s open through September. Oh, and about those events:

The #Yoasisis a series of posts on this site that seek to inform the reader of places in an increasingly bustling where one may encounter a sense of calm and tranquility. Philadelphia is full ofPlaces We Can’t Understand, and we have written about those, too; as a counterpoint, a #yoasis is place in Philly that the body and spirit understands intuitively, and feels at peace. If you’ve got a #yoasis you feel comfortable sharing with us, please do by emailing us at tips[at]philebrity[dot]com.
