Strange Parts is the ambitious pop band led up by Attia Taylor and Corey Duncan and their very name is a great bit of truth in advertising: In here, you’ll hear everything from shoegaze vibes to wild bits of Throwing Muses-esque experimentalism to the occasional massive pop hook. On “Weathersby,” the new single and video from last year’s Oh God, What A Beautiful Time I Spent In The Wild, you’re getting it all at once. And it makes for a pretty great summer jam. Rumblin’ drums, a guitar vibe like that “Surf” version of “Wave Of Mutilation,” and airy vocals that bring to mind Japanese Breakfast at their best all congeal here into something larger than the sum of their… well, you know.
