Your New Home for Fresh, Local LMAO

Chances are, you missed your opportunity to swim the Vine Street Expressway. Don’t miss the Philadelphia region’s upcoming comedy events, too.

BY ALEJANDRO MORALES | This is Laughs On Philly. We’ve been around since 2009 in one form or another, first as a Monday night open mic, then as a series of local showcases, and now as a monthly newsletter, detailing where you can find the best of the area’s comedic talent. Let’s jump right in.

Nov. 3rd

Cali-Philly-cation! Two Philly comedians who made good on the west coast, Katrina Braxton (Flappers Comedy Club) and Alison Zeidman (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) are back in town to give us California vibes. Join them at Punch Line Philly, with the boys who were too late to the yard to get any milkshake Ryan FosterKeir WilliamsJared Keith, Albert Davis, and host John Deary.

I’m feeling Bi-Coastal. Fly me to the ticket link.

Nov. 4th

Rising star on the national scene Lamarr Todd (The Apollo Comedy Club) brings his signature yeen-yeen to Fishtown’s Interstate Drafthouse, along with a packed showcase of 11 other stand-ups. If you can make it through that sheer quantity of Comedian, this joker’s dozen has some gems.

I will mine that comedy gold. Show me the lineup.

Nov. 9th & 10th

Hometown hero Pat House headlines Helium Comedy Club, the city’s most beautiful basement, over two nights of shows. Full of sardonic wit and acid one-liners, there’s truly no party like a Pat House party.

I’m ready to party. Tickets, please.

Nov. 12th

Los Angeles native Samuel J Comroe pops in to headline SoulJoel’s new pop-up in Westover. You might have seen Comroe featured on Conan, Real Husbands of Hollywood, and America’s Got Talent. Here’s your chance to see him live.

I popped and I can’t stop. Show me more.

Nov. 19th

Area clown and newlywed comedian Betty Smithsonian is no stranger to … well, anything. Who better to Spill It with at Plays & Players? How about Cassandra Dee (2018 winner of Philly’s Phunniest) and bright young phenom Chanel Ali (MTV, Comedy Central)?

That’s tea. Sign me up.

Nov. 20th

The Spillening persists at Plays & Players as Alyssa Al-Dookhi (Netflix’s Sing On!) hosts Spill the Chai. Enjoy an evening of first-person stand-up from your favorite SSWANA (South & Southwest Asian, and North African) comedians.

Tickets? Chai thought you’d never ask.

Nov. 21st

Delaware’s funniest former high school wrestler Brandon Vincent Jackson brings his original show English for Criminals to Punch Line Philly for one night of … English, for sure. Jackson, who’s also a teacher, promises an educational yet hilarious evening of “stand-up, interviews, and interactive games.” Play on!

Soy ladron. Muestrame los tickets.

Nov. 30th

This is not a drill! The guy from all those funny IKEA Tik Tok videos, Scott Seiss, is coming to Helium Philly! HAVE YOU NOT SEEN THE VIDEOS? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN UNDER A ROCK? Go look!

I loved that guy in that thing. Let’s go!

AS A TREAT,

Here’s the original song and video “Night Meats” from Philadelphia video creator Dan Cupps.

WELP!

This has been our first newsletter. In the future, we plan on adding more things to this space like reviews, podcast links, and we dunno, merch? You tell us!

See you next month, when we do this all over again except with that Mariah Carey song in our heads.

Love & Cheez Whiz <3
