Lots of people know poet/publisher/jack of all trades and fixer to many Laris Kreslins from all of the aforementioned things, but Kreslins might also be the most Philly-famous Latvian in town. For years, Kreslins has been involved with the Society of Free Letts — home to independent theatre as well as the coolest Latvian happy hour in town — and recently, he’s begun to publish poetry in his native tongue. So it’s no surprise that he’s behind the Slavic Block Party, a distinctly eastern European take on that old Philly tradition. Reuniting with his DJ partner Al Paschyn (the two had a long-running Euro pop night called Foreign Service), Kreslins will be bringing the tracksuit borschtfunk to the Maas Building along with some likewise live entertainment.
