If You Can't Get Motivated, Write Nite Will Help You, Using ANCIENT MYSTERIES

  • The Art Dept. 1638 East Berks Street Philadelphia, PA, 19125 United States (map)

Write Nites are a natural outgrowth of the local Philly press The Head & The Hand's ongoing mission: Not just to be a local publisher (where they've been very successful, publishing everything from novels to chapbooks in vending machines), but to also be a resource for both would-be and practicing writers. Held most often at The Art Dept. in Fishtown, the Write Nite series is "an experimental and experiential workshop series focused on generating new material." And tonight's edition, bearing the theme "Hexagram," is experimental indeed: Using the confines of the ancient Chinese system of divination, the I Ching, this one-time workshop will use the I Ching's Hexagram as a method to generate original work. Hosted by Philly writers Angelo Colavita & Maryan Captan, Write Nite isn't just a writing prompt — it's a way to get you to think about, and act on, writing in general.
