Since 2012, when it launched with Modern Baseball’s debut LP Sports, Philly’s Lame-O Records has amassed a respectable pile of releases while making no bones about a pretty singular aesthetic. This is rooted-in-1990s, crunchy-warbly indie rock in the spirit of, say, the first five years of Merge Records and the hundreds who, back in the day, very enthusiastically jumped on the wagon. But what once an indie commonplace is now a pretty interesting vibe. Yes, every town has bands that sound like this, but hardly any town has as many that are as young and hungry, or a label like Lame-O, utterly specializing in bands that sound like this. And throughout this month, as Lame-O stages a weekly residency on Thursday nights at Boot & Saddle, you’ll get a chance to check out most of them, and then some.

Occurs every Thursday night in January. See the flyer above for lineups, and the Boot & Saddle website for ticket and showtime info.
