We’re Not Players, We Just COBBS A Lot

What’s that saying? “If you don’t believe in something, you’ll fall for anything.” Well, The Cobbs BELIEVE. They believe in large, monolithic space rock; they believe in the dark corridors traversed by every leather jacket band from the Velvets on down; and mostly, they believe in TUNES. Once the outlet for production duo Paul and Ryan Cobb, The Cobbs finally evolved into their own with the release of The Cobbs Sing The Death Capades. Since then, they’ve shared the stage with Kasabian, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (whom they’ve also produced) and more. The Cobbs are the real, not pleather.

Beware Of NOUVEAU RICHE

There’s a lot going on with Nouveau Riche: Like a bastard offspring of The Roots and Bow Wow Wow, the band is fairly used to moving in different directions simultaneously. With Nikki Jean on the sweet and Roots MC Dice Raw on the lowdown, you’d expect no less.
This Is Your Brain. This Is THE WAR ON DRUGS.

Philebrity’s love affair with The War On Drugs goes back a long way, and they’re poised quite nicely to break out any minute now. (A deal already in the works? Shhh. We’ll tell you in a minute.) For the uninitiated, here is the shorthand: Jesus & Mary Chain + Byrds + Nebraska-era Bruuuuuce + wild patches of color and light = THIS BAND.

Pardon Me, Would You Happen To Have Any ROCK TITS?

Since 2000, Rock Tits — aka Joel, Nez and Russell Alexander — have been smearing the city of Philadelphia with the deep stoner grime that once enveloped this entire city. In this regard, you could call them an historical restoration crew; but as a an integral part of Philly’s legendary and forward-thinking Making Time party, they’ve also been hard at work recontextualizing the dirty rock of the past for these new times. These dudes are the friggin’ Energizer Bunny of rock DJs. Do not stare directly at them. You WILL get burned.
