WXPN To Participate In A Nationwide Simulcast Of "Nothing Compares 2 U" This Evening

6:07 pm this evening marks "7 hours and 13 days" since Prince's immeasurable being left this plane of existence. To commemorate, several stations across the U.S., including our own WXPN, obviously, will be simulcasting "Nothing Compares 2 U" at that exact time -- a move that takes on an added layer of weird pathos given Sinead O'Connor's allegations that Arsenio Hall provided Prince with drugs. WXPN is encouraging listeners to "Tweet, Facebook or Instagram a video of themselves singing along using the #NothingCompares2U hashtag," which sounds insufferable beyond belief, and like something the Purple One himself would dismiss of having any style whatsoever. And yet it is also representative of the way we mourn as a society in 2016. (See also: Federal Donuts' Prince donut tribute). I'm going to throw the track on right now as this loss is still too raw to process, but please continue to grieve in whatever way you see fit...as long as selfies aren't involved.
