We found out earlier this week that Washington D.C. has the nation’s worst traffic congestion, and today we found out that the district is also the nation’s most well-read (what a relief). In Central Connecticut State University‘s annual “Most Literate Cities List,” Philadelphia came in at a mediocre #30. But hey, we were #31 last yeah … so … progress!
The overall ranking is based off of data that includes the number of bookstores (where Philly was tied for 45th), library resources (38th), newspaper circulation (tied for 47th), Internet resources (9th) and educational levels (tied at 54th). So really, thank God for the internet, which is something we think every day.
