In case you missed our tweet on the subject last night, Molly Eichel announced onstage at Writer’s Night In America (which was pretty fun, by the way) that, effective Monday, she’d be taking over Dan Gross‘ column at the Daily News. Gross, you may recall, recently announced that he’d be taking a buyout to leave the People Paper, thereby ending a mini-epoch of chronicling nothing but the very lowest-grade local celebrities among us; his last regular column, which absurdly promises his readers more of the same from Eichel, ran today. Eichel, whose byline you may remember from numerous publications around town, has been on staff at the DN for a while now. And as we told her last night, we’re sure she’ll do better than Dan Gross, because really: No one could have done worse.
