If you enjoyed the rumbly, sweet and crashy music that punctuated Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom last summer, you may already be a Benjamin Britten fan and not even know it; his famous piece for kids, The Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra, lined that movie. The composer, whose centenary would have been this year, is being celebrated at the vaunted Curtis Insitute this year — first with a Britten Mini-Fest this weekend, and then in March, with a production of Britten’s opera, Owen Wingrave. The Britten Mini-Fest features three different performances of Britten’s compositions, from Friday through Sunday, and they’re all free.
