Hyperspace Television Clusterfuck: Piers Morgan Vs. Alex Jones Vs. Buzz Bissinger Vs. Sanity And Reason
Alex Jones, if you aren’t aware, is batshit insane. In fact, if you needed to find out just how nuts Alex Jones is as quickly as possible, part one of this video of him on Piers Morgan‘s show will suffice. But, if you needed more info, just check out his little profile on the website of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which reads in part:
Jones has accused the federal government of involvement in the Oklahoma City bombing and the 9/11 attacks, said that the Branch Davidian cultists in Texas were purposely murdered by authorities, claimed that FEMA is secretly building concentration camps for liberty-loving citizens, and issued a series of videos with hair-raising, B horror-film titles. A sampling: 911: The Road to Tyranny, Police State 3: Total Enslavement, The Masters of Terror: Exposed, New World Order: Blueprint of Madmen and The Obama Deception: The Mask Comes Off.
Although it hardly seems possible, Jones’ fecund imagination now seems to be sprouting even more conspiracy theories than before.
Last year, for example, after Jared Lee Loughner went on his January 2011 rampage in Tucson, Ariz., killing six and wounding U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Jones told Rolling Stone: ‘This whole thing stinks to high heaven. … My gut tells me this was a staged mind-control operation. The government employs geometric psychological-warfare experts that know exactly how to indirectly manipulate unstable people through the media.’”
You know, standard stuff. So when he nearly gave himself a heart attack yelling at Piers Morgan, and then promptly claimed that Mayor Bloomberg was sending undercover crackhead assassins to kill him, he understandably sat down with his family to watch CNN, expecting everyone on the air to give him the common courtesy he was withholding from just about everyone.
And of course, as we told you late last night, and as you can guess by the way this is all going, Buzz Bissinger suggested that Piers Morgan shoot Alex Jones. Jones’ own InfoWars supplied the video above, which gets down to the clip in question once you get past that smug doucheball talking at you. And yes, Buzz Bissinger does suggest that Morgan “pop” Jones with an assault rifle, but then again, Buzz has never been one to hold back when it comes to saying what he wants. And yeah, Buzz didn’t advance the conversation in a way that is sorely needed when it comes to the gun control conversation. Neither did Jones, who actually made it much worse.
While Jones himself did not threaten to shoot Piers Morgan, he did challenge him to a boxing match and proclaim (scream) that if he tried to take his weapons, “1776 would commence again,” in a form of televised dick-measuring that was frankly disgusting, insane, and a little bit silly. And Buzz didn’t help. He’s guilty of the same reactionary nonsense that Jones propagated, but we’re sure having to receive thousands upon thousands of tweets from absolute wing-nuts for the next week or so is penance enough.
