You Can Still Give Money To Sandy Relief And See Live Music In Return, Namely Music From Steve Earle And My Morning Jacket
After the nationally broadcast 12.12.12 concert, where Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, uh … Billy Joel, and more performed at Madison Square Garden and raised tons of money for Sandy Relief, talk of the whole recovery effort has died down. But next week, before you’ve even gotten around to hanging up your 2013 calendar, there will be another show to raise funds for the relief effort, and it’s a big one: Steve Earle, My Morning Jacket, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Nicole Atkins, River City Extension, and Tangiers Blues Band are playing the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, NJ on January 2nd.
And while the 12.12.12 show focused on the aftermath of Sandy in NYC and Long Island (as a nationally broadcast show at MSG is going to), the On The Beach concert will focus relief efforts on the Jersey Shore, with the funds raised going to Waves for Water, Coastal Habitat for Humanity, The Food Bank of Monmouth/Ocean Counties, Food For Thought By The Sea, and RebuildRecover. Because while we escaped most of Sandy’s wrath, our favorite shore spots did not, and as much as we’ve joked about giving Philadelphia a beach of its own, we don’t really mean it. Tickets for the show are still available here.
