Sports Rumblings: Former Lives

>>> In a media session, former Eagle Jason Babin called the Philadelphia Eagles ‘”socialistic.” He keeps using that word, we do not think it means what he thinks it means. [NFL]
>>> Nick Foles has officially been placed on injured reserve and Mike Vick will start what is likely his farewell game this weekend against the New York Giants. [ESPN]
>>> And interviewed the now-retired (and forever Philadelphia hero) Brad Lidge a little about his retirement and a whole lot about Game 5 of the 2008 World Series. It’s worth a read, and when asked about the photo of Lidge after the third out of Game 5 being part of Philly history (seen at right with Black Taco), Lidge said:

I’m thrilled to death. When I think about that, you just have to be really blessed or lucky to be on the right team at the right time to have that opportunity. So yeah, I’m so proud of that moment. That feels like the crowning jewel after every minute I put into the game. To have it happen in a city like Philadelphia just makes it even better. It was kind of Harry Kalas’ swan song, too. So I’m super proud of that moment, and it’s cool it’s an important moment for Philadelphia. I’m so honored to be a part of it.”

Well said. []
