This Moment In Self-Defeating Philly Rappers: Judge Says Meek Mill Can’t Tour

20121218-103152.jpgATV-loving hip-hop Next Big Thing Meek Mill is coming off of a great year for sure, but like they say in Magnolia, while we may be through with the past, the past is not yet through with us. And as it happens, though stardom and crossover seems to beckon him at the moment, the Philly rapper is still on probation for a spate of guns and drug charges from a few years back.

These would seem to have bitten him in the ass yesterday, when a judge ordered Meek Mill off the road for at least the next month, hamstringing TV appearances and tour plans already in the works. This is notable for a few reasons: One is that Meek has already been on the road quite a bit this year, and the other is, how will this affect his career moving forward? With no reason given for the ban — other than, duh, he’s on parole — this could prove to be a real thorn in the rapper’s side. Mill plays what could be his final show of 2012 tonight, a private, fans-only event at Sigma Sound Studios.
