Some very unsettling news came out of the federal trial against Joseph “Uncle Joe” Ligambi today: According to The Inquirer, mob turncoat Louis Monacello testified today that Ligambi threatened to kill Jerry Blavat in 2009. Apparently, Ligambi believed Blavat was the source of a Philadelphia Magazine (it’s always Philly Mag, isn’t it) story about the local mob, and Ligambi didn’t take too kindly to it. Monacello testified, “He was ranting and raving, ‘That [expletive] Jerry Blavat, he set this up … Jerry Blavat, I’m gonna kill this [expletive].”
Now, this was likely just an old man ranting and blowing off some steam, and it was probably never a real threat, but let us here at the Philebs make our thoughts on this clear: IF YOU SO MUCH AS HARM A HAIR ON JERRY BLAVAT’S KANGOL’D HEAD, WE WILL BE VERY UPSET. That is all.
Update: Maybe this was all just mob karma from that time Blavat wanted Hy Lit rubbed out.
