This Evening: Devil And Hyde

>>> Carl Newman (better known under the moniker AC Newman, or as a member of The New Pornographers) is bringing some of the great indie-rock/pop songs from this year’s Shut Down The Streets to the First Unitarian Church tonight.
>>> The literary-folk jams of The Extraordinaires will be on display at Johnny Brenda’s, with support from fellow locals The Spinning Leaves and Washington D.C.’s HUME.
>>> Over at PhilaMOCA, you can hear Nightlands‘ first full band show in over a year, as they play with Soft Cat and a solo set from Ape School’s Michael Johnson.
>>> And anyone who has tickets to tonight’s Cat Power show at the Electric Factory should put them up on the fridge for now, as the show has been rescheduled for January 30th, 2013.

And your Philadelphia Film Fest picks:

>>> Alaskaland and Gimme the Loot, which we previewed in our Film Fest preview, are both screening tonight. Alaskaland hits the screen at 10:15PM at the Prince Music Theater, and Gimme the Loot can be seen at 7:25PM at the Ritz Bourse.
>>> Hyde Park on Hudson, possibly better known as “That movie where Bill Murray plays FDR,” is screening at 7:25PM at the Prince Music Theater. As we said, Bill Murray plays FDR, so that should be enough reason to see it right there.
>>> And for some fright-time before Halloween, check out Adrián García Bogliano‘s Here Comes the Devil, a film that combines creepy children with the devil, because it does not care how well you sleep at night. It screens at 9:45PM tonight at RAVE Auditorium 6.
