Sixers Owner to Mitt Romney: “We Owe You One”

If you’re not doing anything this weekend and have $50K or maybe even $75K to throw around, hop in your G4 and get your silk swaddled tuchas down to Florida, where Philadelphia 76ers part-owner Mark Leder is throwing another one of his Mittxers. According to the Huffington Post by Laura Goldman and Ryan Grim, Leder feels he owes the Republican candidate another party and another fat check.

Leder has been telling potential donors that given the uproar following his last fundraiser, he feels an obligation to make the situation right by raising more money for Romney, according to people who have discussed the matter with Leder. One donor, asked if Leder had been noting that he’d been “taking heat” for the last fundraiser, said, “That was the basic pitch, except the word ‘heat’ was replaced by another four-letter word that begins with s.”

And if you wanna make a weekend of it, you can come down a day early: Mother Jones has obtained an invitation to which Leder’s name is attached. This is a Friday night shindig that will feature America’s favorite Rage Against the Machine fan, Paul Ryan. This ticket is a mere $25K and may or may not come with a set of P90X DVD’s.

Even though the events this time around will not be at Leder’s home, we feel it’s safe to assume Leder will be using a different caterer and none of Jimmy Carter’s relatives will be on the guest list. But if you do attend, you know what to do with the iPhone footage.

At the time of publication, it is unknown whether Leder has sent any of the Sixers letters informing them that an Obama victory in November might impact their employment with the team, as is the style these days.
