And Now, Today’s GOOD NEWS: That Parks For Cash Bill Didn’t Even Get Voted On

We told you before about House Bill 2224, the so-called “Parks for Cash” bill, which would allow local governments to sell parks if they needed some quick cash. The Friends of the Wissahickon (and others) got to petitioning and calling State Senators and just about anything else to halt the bill. And as it turns out, their plan was successful … probably.
According to the Philadelphia Parks Alliance, “The PA Senate went into recess last night without voting on House Bill 2224 and will not return until November 14th, after the election. Senators have made it clear they will not vote on any bills in the lame duck session, so the bill is dead. If legislators want to pursue this issue, then they will have to introduce a new bill in 2013.” And let’s face it, they’ll likely have moved on to completely different things by then.
So there you have it: The world is not totally made of shit. Have you got some good news? If so, send it to tips[at]philebrity[dot]com with “GOOD MOTHERFUCKING NEWS!” in the subject header — we’d love to hear about it.
