This Weekend: Crazy Eights

FRIDAY:

Click here to invite friends on Facebook.

>>>FRIENDS! Come join us as we celebrate eight years of whatever this is at the Philebrity 8th Anniversary Party/215 Festival Preview. There will be music, drinks, fun to be had, and good vibes for days. Join us, won’t you?
>>>Bleeding Rainbow, Far-Out Fangtooth, and Heavy Medical are doing the all-local-bill thing at Johnny Brenda’s.
>>>The legendary Marky Ramone is playing at the North Star Bar with Mean Streets, The Cryptkeeper Five, and Tonight We Strike. VIP meet-and-greet passes are available to meet Marky after the show.
>>>In shows we gave away tickets for: Calexico is at Union Transfer, and Heart (fucking HEART!!!) will go crazy on you (we are so, so sorry) at the Tower Theatre.
>>>The DesignPhiladelphia Festival continues all weekend, and you can keep up with all of the events over here.
>>>And The Cobbs play their first gig in forever with Residuels at the Bryn Athyn Civic and Social Club in Bryn Athyn. What? GPS that shit.
>>>Oh, and GWAR.

SATURDAY:

>>>Legendary Canadian band Sloan will be playing their 1994 album Twice Removed in its entirety at Underground Arts.
>>>Longtime no-wave/post-punk/whatever-else-you-wanna-call-em band Swans are playing in support of this year’s The Seer at Union Transfer. Support will be provided by A Hawk & Hacksaw.
>>>Attn. Blip and Chiptune Fans: Hi there, nice to meet you. You’ll probably want to be at PhilaMOCA tonight for the 4th anniversary of 8static, featuring Bit Shifter, Radlib, an0va, and more.

SUNDAY:

>>>The Switched On Garden, which we cannot get enough of, is going down at Bartram’s Garden as part of DesignPhiladelphia. These plants make cooler music than you. Accept it. Oh, plus King Britt, Spaceship Aloha, and a bunch more people will be performing. It’s going to be great.
>>>And The English Beat and Paul Collins will be performing at the World Cafe, because who ever said you can’t get down on a Sunday night was wrong. Very, very wrong.
