Can you believe it? Today marks EIGHT YEARS OF PHILEBRITY. Holy smokes. And by all means, thank you to anyone who’s ever read/advertised/tipped us off/not sued us. (More on our origins coming up soon.) To mark the occasion, next Friday night at Ortlieb’s, we’re celebrating with a family jamboree of sorts — a show populated by us and some close friends. There’ll be El Malito, with whom we often break beer. Shawn Kilroy, whom we’ve known since Late 1980s Frankford Skateboard Punk Rocker Days, and whose short films will appear at the 215 Fest. DJ Ryan Grotz, who will play Miley Cyrus if you ask him to. Juliet Hope Wayne, our good friend and touchy-feely Wednesday Night Writers Workshop co-chair, will tell filthy stories just like she will at the 215. And then there’s Language Problems, the new band with our new ad rep Claire Connelly on drums. And finally, Arctic Splash, which we’ve promised we won’t talk about too much. (Sadly, Blayer Pointdujour & The Rockers Galore had to be called out of town, James Adair’s new band does not exist yet/again, and who knows what the Blood Feathers are doing.) At any rate, JOIN US! It’s gonna be a real humdinger of a time. Check out the musical acts after the jump.
