This Weekend: Final Fringe

FRIDAY:
>>>PhilaMOCA hosts a screening of Chickenhawk, an oft-forgotten and rarely seen NAMBLA documentary, with director Adi Sideman in attendance. It’s an interesting way to start your weekend.
>>>Peter Gabriel‘s Back to Front tour comes to the Wells Fargo Center, as he and the original 1987 touring band play So in its entirety. Worth it for “Red Rain” alone.
>>>The 10th Anniversary tour of FOUND Magazine brings Davy and Peter Rothbart to Johnny Brenda’s tonight for a night of stories and songs. Tickets for the both shows are still available.

And your Live Arts/Fringe picks:
>>>Pro-Mania 2k12 WitOut Wrestling takes all of the fun and spectacle of professional wrestling with very little of the actual wrestling at the Adrienne.
>>>Have as much Gothic fun as you can at No Rest For The Wicked, a cabaret from REV Theater company taking place in Laurel Hill Cemetary.
>>>The End of Hope, The End of Desire by Tiny Dynamite/Extreme Measures is described as a comedic play where, “Two strangers meet up for a night of “anything goes” and are surprised to see where it takes them,” but we’re only selling you on it because it’s written by an Irish guy whose last name is Ireland.

SATURDAY:

>>>The bleep-bloops of Tycho, described to us as the sound of “swimming in outer space oceans,” will be on full display at the Troc with The Album Leaf.
>>>Even if you are without free passes, Baltimore-duo Wye Oak is still worth checking out when they play Union Transfer with Callers.
>>>Little Big League (featuring members of Post Post, Titus Andronicus, and Strand of Oaks) are playing at Kungfu Necktie with The Downtown Club and Ryan Belski.
>>>And that 12th Street Art & Music Festival Block Party is going on all day in the Eraserhood, featuring a whole bunch of good tunes from S.T.A.R.W.O.O.D., Thom McCarthy, Post Sun Times (ex-Cranes Are Flying), The Love Club, SKGB, Taco and more.

And your Live Arts/Fringe picks:
>>>Check out daytime hide and seek theater adventure, Seek and Hide by Dragon’s Eye Theater. You know, for kids.
>>>Awesome Alliteration: The Magical Musical by BetaMale Productions is basically like Footloose, but for literature. If only someone slid in at the end and yelled “LET’S READ!”
>>>And the Alternative Theater Festival, “a performance of avant-garde, experimental, and/or cool theater for the Philadelphia community written, directed, and performed by University of Pennsylvania students,” is going on at Platt Student Performing Arts House.

SUNDAY:
>>>And the Live Arts/Fringe fest makes it’s way to a close (other than Open Air and a show or two for the next 5 days), meaning today is your last chance to check out a bunch of shows, including: Seek and Hide, Sequence 8, The Edge of Our Bodies, The Last Mummer, Fibber, and the Real Housewives of South Philly.
