Captain Freeshit: Win Tickets To See Wye Oak Play At Union Transfer This Saturday!
We’re coming to that time of year where we’ve almost got more tickets to give away than we know what to do with (in fact, we’ve got two more giveaways coming in the next week) so let us start with this one: Wye Oak‘s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack have been making a kind-of shoegaze/folk music for a few years now, but the Baltimore group’s third album, Civilian, was pretty consistently stellar from open to close. The soundscapes on much of the album (the doom-and-gloom title track was featured in a well-placed spot on AMC’s The Walking Dead) often sounds bigger than can possibly be put together by two people, but it is. And hey, their covers game ain’t too shabby either. The Baltimore duo will be playing at Union Transfer this Saturday with support from Callers, and we want you to go. To enter to win tickets, email ihopeiwin[at]philebrity[dot]com with “CIVILIAN” in the subject header. You’ll automatically be subscribed to the forthcoming new Philebrity Reader weekly newsletter and win chances for other exclusive free stuff. Also, you’ve only got a couple of hours before we pick winners for both Stephen Marley and Michael Kiwanuka, so send those last minute emails our way.
