Rare Video Game Found At Medium Bob’s Likely To Fetch Over $10k, Or: Everyone Search Old Boxes In Your Attic Now
Last month, we told you about the guys at Medium Bob’s Curiosity Shop coming across a rare copy of the Atari 2600 game Red Sea Crossing. It was only the second copy known to be in existence, with the first copy set to go up for auction the day after the second one surfaced. When the game popped up at Medium Bob’s however, the owner of the other copy postponed his auction, and the world’s nerdiest Mexican-stand-off took place. There was a whole bunch of hoopla over on some Atari forums where people were claiming it was a hoax or the game didn’t work (it does), and there was some serious conspiracy talk going on aimed at both game owners.
Well, the first copy went up for auction and sold for over $10,000 so the dudes at Medium Bob’s are hoping their copy (which has a label that is in better condition) will sell for even more than that. The game is up for sale over here until tomorrow and as of right now the purchase price is sitting just shy of $9,000 (which sounds insane but is also under reserve). They’ve got about 30 hours or so left in the auction, so they better hope some dorks with some deep pockets find it.
