Here, Then, Is The Single Greatest Michael Nutter Television Appearance Of All Time (Until Later Today)

On Tuesday, someone on CNN’s DNC coverage team had the amazing idea to seat Mayor Michael Nutter next to Tea Party Express‘ Amy Kremer, who attempted to explain why she believes President Obama “doesn’t love America the way we do.” Stay with this one for Nutter’s reaction. It is the reaction of a man who has discovered a disturbed, developmentally disabled child playing with its own feces. He does not know… he cannot fathom why… he just can’t. As the segment progresses, we see a window into the man we’ve never seen before. There is anger and consternation, sure, but there is also dark fascination and, then, finally, as he somehow, in the moment, transcends politics altogether, real emotional pain. And as he nearly whispers How could you say that?, we suddenly understand two things: What life in City Council must have been like for Nutter, and why we voted for this man in the first place.     really great how when you question one of these mouth-breathing tea baggers and ask them to explain themselves they cannot. She sounds like a more retarded version of Sarah Palin. “you know, ‘global,’ like what’s the word? ‘one world.’” Also like the resort to discussion of “heritage” and all that good dog whistle stuff while they are discussing dog whistles… One thing is for sure, the Mayor is a much better man than me and has the patience of Job. he actually treated her with sympathy instead of the utter derision and disdain she deserved. How they hell is that woman sitting on that panel? she’s a moron.

    I saw this on CNN yesterday. “Well, clearly I’m not understanding.” I’ve never been prouder of a Philadelphia mayor. Nutter owns it with his words; Rendell owned it with snowballs. “Well, maybe this IS the American way.” Translation: you have no f’in clue what you’re talking about.
