This Weekend: Once More With Feeling!

FRIDAY:
>>> Summer. Summer, summer, summer. It’s turned you upside-down. And from us to you: We hope that you got to walk on water in a swimming pool with all your freaks in attendance. While your own Paulina Porizkova held a towel for you, and your skin refused the sun. And if you didn’t, there is still one weekend left to get it all out of your system. For after this, the autumn crush shall begin anew, with all of the (frankly amazing, don’t be bummed!) stuff that is coming with it. But this weekend, this last summer weekend, live in the now. You can freak out on Tuesday morning.
>>> Start with the very best that friendrock has to offer here in the City of Brotherly Glug: Work Drugs and City Rain at Johnny Brenda’s and/or Toy Soldiers at Fergie’s. The three bands just mentioned are some of the hardest-working in the Philly game right now, and you can bet there will be smiles and cheap brews abound.
>>> But if you are looking for that last chance to wear your Captain And Tenielle hat AND your Lemonheads t-shirt, you could do worse than DJ Deejay’s ’90s Party on the Moshulu. Nice night for it, too.

SATURDAY:
>>> See below for the Everything You Always Wanted To Know But Were Afraid To Ask About Made In America.
>>> But if you’re hiding out on the northside, please visit Bouffant Bangout at The Barbary and/or Broadzilla/Horse Meat Disco (UK) at Morgan’s Pier. We feel Bro-Free winds on the air. And it feels good, bro.

SUNDAY:
>>> Bruce Springsteen begins the first of two nights at CBP and will no doubt be the most exciting thing that happens there this summer. Oh well, spring training starts in March.
>>> Last chance for Tropical jams with Bottom Power at Bamboo Bar.
>>> Or if you want to get a jump on your fall folk steez, check out The Black Swans with Meg Baird and Glenn Jones over in Fishtown. But whatever you do, please be safe and truly, Happy Summer’s End to each and every one of you. Peace!
