Travel Channel Confirms What We Already Knew: DiNic’s Roast Pork Is The Best Sandwich In America

As mentioned earlier, Adam Richman’s (of Man v. Food fame) latest series for the Travel Channel sees him touring the country in search of the Best Sandwich In America. In last night’s finale, the region was represented by two excellent sandwiches–Dinic’s Roast Pork and John’s Roast Pork’s Cheesesteak–but only one sandwich can be crowned king, and that sandwich came from DiNic’s. The roast pork, a longtime Philadelphia staple, beat out other unreasonably delicious-sounding items such as a shrimp po’ boy from New Orleans, lobster roll from Maine, and seared beef tongue from Texas.
The final episode was taped over a month ago, but co-owner Joe Nicolosi and his family managed to keep the results a secret. At a screening party last night at the Reading Terminal Market, he posed for pictures with the impressive-looking trophy–topped with a quadruple-decker sandwich of gold–bestowed upon the restaurant by the Travel Channel to honor the title. The award is in name only, as there’s no cash prize or additional half-hour series where America watches Mr. Richman eat everything on the menu, but DiNic’s is just as happy to have new business. Congrats, guys! You seriously deserve it.
