Mayor Nutter And Other PA Mayors Face Off Against The NRA On Gun Laws

According to Bloomberg, althought PA Mayors realize, “[they] don’t have enough political clout to win the battle,” they are still fighting the NRA on gun laws to protect their citizens. Mayor Nutter, along with mayors from Allentown, Chester, and other PA cities, originally, “backed a statewide law aimed at cracking down on trafficking by forcing residents to report lost and stolen firearms.” The NRA opposed it, which then caused it to die in the legislature. Not letting that keep them down, the Mayors said “fuck it” (our words, not theirs) and just passed similar rules on their own. The NRA tried to sue, and that didn’t work. The NRA’s next step? “Championing a bill that would let it sue cities over the reporting rules — even if no one is charged for breaking them.”

According to the article, many areas introduced bills to ban,”carrying weapons through public parks and into city-hall meetings” because no shit that shouldn’t be allowed. Mayor Nutter told Bloomberg, “They have an undue influence virtually everywhere … Whether it is Pennsylvania or other states or certainly with the federal government, there appears to be no ability on their part to seek common ground, to seek compromise, even a recognition that there is a violence problem in the United States of America.” There is no word on if he then dropped the mic and stomped away. The vote on the NRA-backed legislation stalled in June and is up for vote when the house reconvenes in September. You can read more here.

Let’s be clear here, they are not facing off against the NRA, they are attempting to re-write the Constitution.  In typical leftist fashion, they want to eliminate personal freedom and empower a Statist Government.

Thank God for the NRA for defending our country from leftist assault.

If the mayoral collective wants to stop inner city violence they should stop giving whiskey to the Indians.

How is requiring citizens to report lost or stolen fire-arms a violation of the 2nd Amendment (Amendment II) of the Constitution?

The constitution makes no assertion that a fairly common sense gun law like this can’t be past.

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”

The law specifically asserts “well regulated” and you’ll have to show me how letting people know when a gun has been stolen or lost guns is infringement. It in no way precludes the use of gun ownership, and I think it’s a valid argument that “well regulated” implies that local and/or federal government can, has and will continue to set regulations.
