If You Like Your Walking Tours With As Much Walking As Possible, Boy, Does The APT Have One For You

If you rightly despise the Segway tour and everything about it, and have too much respect for yourself and others to take a duck tour, chances are, walking’s kind of your thing, right? Well, if you take the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides’ Great Twelve-Hour Tour, it fucking better be.

The APT’s 3rd Annual “Twelve Hour, River to River, Vine to Pine, Rain or Shine” free tour of Philadelphia is set for Saturday, September 8th, which gives you just over three weeks to stretch out your hamstrings. The Great Tour is “a celebration of Philadelphia and the hundreds of museums, cultural venues, sites and organizations that it offers tourists and residents alike.” Additionally, according to APT President Bob Skiba,”it showcases the talents, expertise and commitment of our hard working tour guides and the pride they have in their city.” Isn’t that nice? The schlep tour is organized into four phases, each of which covers one major section of the City. Additionally, each four phase will feature a launch site where the optimistic and unreasonably fit alike can sign in/take advantage of rest rooms and food vendors. Launch locations and times are as follows:

>>>8 AM at the National Constitution Center
>>>11 AM at The Bourse at 5th St.
>>>2 PM at the Independence Visitors Center
>>>5 PM at City Hall Courtyard

Participants can join in at any phase, but reservations are encouraged. They can be made through APT’s website, where you can also learn more about the tour, as well as its sponsors. Side note – anyone else hear the Gilligan’s Island theme song in their heads? No? A twelve hour tour…a twelve hour tour…
