Addendum: The Timeless Allure Of The Ideal Jingle
Last week, we rejoiced as the Internet finally gave us what has proved that most elusive piece of local ephemera: The old TV commercial for Ideal Manufacturing Company of Hammonton, NJ. If you are of a certain age, both the imagery of that ad and, in particular, the jingle that went with it are a delicious treat for the old memory bone. So when a reader sent us local musician Cliff Hillis‘s remake of the tune, of course we had to stop everything and give a listen. Not bad, but we’re still holding out for a mashup with the Fresh Prince’s “Summertime.”
