Let Us Settle This Once And For All: No Part Of Ghostbusters Was Filmed In Philly

It’s been part of many bar and dinner table discussions in Philly for decades now: Some person says that parts of either Ghostbusters or Ghostbusters 2 were filmed here, you say no. How did this ever get started? Probably because of faulty information given out on city tours or the fact that IMDB states that the terror dogs are actual statue designs from an old church here that we cannot, for the life of us, find the name of. (If anyone knows the church that provided inspo for the terror dogs, we’d be eternally grateful for the 411).

Sorry for the buzzkill, everyone, but we asked, and according to the Philadelphia Film Office, neither of the Ghostbusters movies were filmed in Philadelphia. They did admit that parts of the franchise, which were primarily shot in New York and Los Angeles, do look a lot like Philly. At least we’ll always have Rockies 1,2,3,4 and 5.

No GhostBusters?? Next you’ll tell me Trading Places was filmed on a sound stage (or Pittman, NJ.) and not partly south of City Hall or wherever that building is on Ave. of Arts.
