For those of us who grew up here in the 1970s and 1980s, it is a jingle that was embedded into our brains, the toll for endless afternoons of UHF viewings of cartoon and sitcom re-runs. It’s the commercial for Ideal Manufacturing Company of Hammonton, NJ, and it ran incessantly in these parts for what felt like forever. Also, we have been looking for it online pretty much since the day this website started. And today, courtesy of a dear reader, there it finally was, in all of its fashion-so-backward-it’s-now-quite-forward glory. In the above compilation reel of random 1980s Philly TV stuff — oh my God, there’s a Betson’s ad on this, too — you will be hypnotized into an era where the choices were fewer, local television was even more janky than it is now, and yes, we are not afraid to say this, life actually was simpler.
