SRC Approves New Superintendent’s Contract, Finally Putting All That Ackerman Mess Out Of Sight
The day has finally come. The new superintendent of the Philadelphia School District, William R. Hite Jr., had his salary of $300,000 approved by the SRC. Hite comes to Philadelphia from the school district in Prince George’s County, MD and faces a district in debt, disarray, and dysfunction.
There’s a lot more specifics about the contract over here, but let us look at the bright side: With the new guy in charge, we are now (hopefully) officially 100% done with Arlene Ackerman. It feels … good. She’s been gone for a while, but the ghost of her horribleness lingered. There are challenges ahead, but let’s have hopeful hearts for a man who couldn’t possibly be worse … right?
