Dept. Of Everything Is Beautiful And Nothing Hurts: Free Library of Philadelphia Raises 10x Its FundraisingGoal

In a rare win for the public good last month, The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation set out to fundraise $6,000 in an email campaign and ended up with $52,000. According to Newsworks, the campaign was the first of its kind for the FLPF and representatives are optimistic for future fundraising efforts.

The funds will directly benefit LEAP, FLPF’s after-school reading initiative, as well as other programming and building improvements. Since the city only covers the FLPF’s basic operating costs, donations are imperative for the libraries to continue community outreach in neighborhoods that need it most.

Donations can be made on the FLPF’s website, and supporters can select a specific branch of the library to support.
