This Weekend: Farewell To All My Friends

FRIDAY:
>>>There’s a full docket of shows, so take your pick: The Sparklers and Creem Circus are doing the dual record release thing at Connie’s Ric Rac; Kuf Knotz, Fathead, Fractals, and Vitamin F at North Star Bar; Shit Robot and Pat Mahoney spinning dance jams for free at Morgan’s Pier; and swingabilly from Delco Nightingale at Ortlieb’s. It’s really anything you could ask for.
>>>In sold-out shows you can try to finagle your way in to: The Menzingers, Restorations, and Sore Saints in an early show at The Barbary, and First Mate Jim’s Album of the Year contenders Japandroids at Johnny Brenda’s.
>>>And while it’s 99 degrees outside, why not head to the air-conditioned Eric Fischl exhibit at PAFA. It opens today, and it’ll be a nice respite from the heat. But no worries if you don’t make it, Fischl’s work is on display until September 30.

SATURDAY:
>>>FIREWORKS! AT PENN’S LANDING!
>>>The Early November, that band all you millennials liked in High School, is playing the Troc.
>>>Hey! Wanna do some free stuff? Why not check out Algernon Cadwallader and En Garde at that bastion of bourgeois-scum Morgan’s Pier.
>>>And it is with a heavy head and a heavy heart that the guys behind WILDSTYLE are calling it a day. This Saturday, downstairs at The Barbary from 9PM to 2AM they will be calling it quits, with pizza, beer, and great times. Brian “Pizza Brain” Dwyer, who is one of the dudes behind the sweaty shindig told us of the above farewell video, “Here’s a video that one of the guys made in honor our retirement. A farewell of sorts to the internet and to all the lovely bearded weirdos and melted candles that keep philly weird on a yearly basis. For 2 solid years they made us laugh, cry, drink, and scratch our heads. It was a blast.” Give them the farewell they deserve.

SUNDAY:
>>>It’s going to be dipping down to the mild temperature of 91 degrees. BREAK OUT THE SCARVES AND GLOVES!
>>>You’re still here? The week’s over. Go home. Go.
