Oh, Liberty Medal. Year in, year out, and so much squandered potential. Just look at this list of compromised, WTF “winners.” It’s crazy to think that it’s been nearly a decade since they gave this thing to someone who didn’t provoke an initial reaction of “Really?” And what have we got to show for it? Kim Delaney getting all cuckcoo? A very odd Bono/Rendell photo op? In recent years, it just hasn’t been worth it. In fact, it’s time the National Constitution Center named a recipient that could finally be universally agreed-upon and turn the Liberty Medal train around — and we’ll find out who that is on July 5th, when the announcement is made. We’ve got our fingers crossed: Please say it’s this guy.
