Captain Freeshit: Win Tickets To See Norah Jones This Thursday At The Mann!
Well, hello, fellow thinking music listener: Like you, we’ve got about a decade’s worth of mixed feelings about Norah Jones that we are only just now starting to make sense of. Way back in the way back, the party line on Ms. Norah was that she was Starbucks adult contemporary through and through, and that if you liked her, you better look out because your momjeans were showing. But in the last few years, a curious thing started happening: Norah Jones started doing cool shit. The first thing that we noticed, of course, was her star turn on this Belle & Sebastian track last year. Then, we caught her (short) appearance with Sean Bones in the movie Wah Do Dem on Netflix streaming; we loved this movie, and the fact that she had anything to do with it at all spoke volumes about The Cool Rebirth Of Norah Jones. And then there’s her new album, Little Broken Hearts, which is REALLY NOT BAD AT ALL, and this review explains all of this way better than we ever could. HOW CAN THIS BE, YOU ASK. What kind of world is this turning into, you wonder. We don’t have answers to that, other than, hey, life is long and aesthetic verdicts seldom stay put. In the spirit of all of this, we’ve got tickets to give away to see Norah Jones at the Mann this Thursday night, and we want you to have them, if you are cool with all of this. You could take a certain someone; or you could even take your mom. That’s the great thing about music; it really is for everyone. To enter to win, email ihopeiwin[at]philebrity[dot]com with “ME & MRS. JONES” in the subject header. You’ll automatically be subscribed to the forthcoming new Philebrity Reader weekly newsletter and win chances for other exclusive free stuff. We will pick winners Thursday morning. Good luck, and keep an open mind, babies.
