This Summer At The Constitution Center: FDR’s Hat, The Machines That Caused The 2000 Recount

To celebrate and give historical context to the upcoming American-joyride known as the Presidential Election, the National Constitution Center will be adding 30 new artifacts to it’s core collection. The 30 new president-themed items include, among others, Clinton‘s saxophone, FDR‘s fedora, Reagan‘s jellybean jar, Washington‘s personal pocket diary, and more.

In addition, the center will have artifacts related to voting, including a ballot box from the 1800s, a metal voting box from the early 1900s, and one of the infamous hanging chad punch card voting machines from Palm Beach County, Florida in 2000. The display begins June 29th and goes until the end of the year, and if you need us, we’ll be staring at that Florida voting machine, silently shaking our fists, imagining a world that could have been.
