Mayor Nutter, The Philadelphia Eagles Pledge To Rebuild FDR Park Playground That Was Set On Fire
If you were anywhere near FDR Park on Sunday night around 10 PM, you probably saw the smoke. The thick, black billows coming out above the trees were coming from the less-than-a-year-old playground in the park which had been set on fire by arsonists using trash and some flammable liquid. Most of the $306,000 playground was destroyed by the vandals, but Mayor Nutter has already pledged to rebuild, pulling together $11,000 in reward money to help find the arsonists, and enlisting the help of the Philadelphia Eagles to rebuild the park.
Along with help from the Eagles, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson pledged $100,000 towards the reconstruction of the playground. The person or group responsible will likely be caught when they begin to brag about how they burned down a playground and everyone they talk to responds with, “Really? What the fuck is wrong with you?”
