CNN Pits Philadelphia Against Detroit For Some Reason, Philadelphia Likely Victorious
Quick, think of Philadelphia’s rival city. Did you say Detroit? Don’t lie. No one said Detroit. But over at CNN’s Destination America, they have set up a face-off between Philly and Detroit (both considered “underdog” cities) as part of a series of “city smackdowns.” The goal? To decide what the best city in the country is … we think.
And in his defense of the city, writer Michael Saba hits the nail more or less right on the head, calling us a city of, “cast-offs, misfits, and people who didn’t (or couldn’t) fit in anywhere else.” It’s very much worth the read. But none of that matters, because at the time of this writing, Philly was ahead in the poll with … ahem … 90% of the votes. So, does that mean Detroit is in fact the biggest underdog? By winning, do we lose?
Oh, and be sure to sample some of the comments, among all the Philly-hate there are gems sprinkled in, like this: “My boss is from Philly and is so freaking HOT! Ouch! Hot, hot, HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have lots of hot guys here in Chicago but he outshines them ALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! H O T !!!!!” So there you have it; Philly guys are hotter than Chicago guys. That’s some high-quality CNN shit right there.
