They’re legends. They’re on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They’re the most successful R&B group of all time, and now they’re playing Valley Forge Casino Resort.
It seemed only yesterday that Boyz II Men reminded everyone at Welcome America how things should be done. They were way past their prime when they played that show, but it seemed a resurgence of sorts was about to happen. In the last few years they’ve made a new record and played late night talk shows, and things were going their way. But now they’re playing the same place that pulled in Sinbad as their big opening act. Oh, Boyz II Men, we hope this isn’t just what you’ll do now. We don’t want to live in a world where you guys are touring casinos and state fairs, singing songs about baby-making while the saddest people on earth slide penny after penny into the Wizard of Oz slot machine. At a time when one legend of the Philly sound is doing some slimy things, we need you more than ever.
But on the other hand, tickets are $100. So maybe you guys are just fine. All we can hope is that your music lasts forever, and we hope every child that was conceived to “I’ll Make Love To You” one day conceives their own child to that same smooth, soulful jam. It’s the circle of life.
