Daniel Denvir Will Call You Out If You Are Wrong

When WHYY’s Chris Satullo took to Newsworks to ask what the deal was with all the negativity about the state of public schools in Philadelphia, he probably didn’t expect award-nominated Daniel Denvir to take issue. Denvir took to City Paper‘s Naked City to call out Satullo for not using, you know, facts to back up his claims, and for being buddy-buddy with those being criticized by most. The main lesson here? If you’re going to say something and get some facts wrong, don’t do it with stuff in Denvir’s wheelhouse; namely education.

I’ve heard a bunch of Satullo rants, and hope this might knock him a bit off his high horse. I just imagine there to be some director of programming at WHYY who thinks Satullo is sooooooooo edgy for Public Radio (‘you could be like the Chris Matthews of NPR, maannn!’), and Satullo rides that wave until it’s borderline masturbatory.

The obvious solution here is for WHYY to cut Satullo and get more Frank Deford, because everyone wants that.
