Well, it’s been just over a year since the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts French-ified our dear city, and in under a year from now, they’ll be taking it back in time. PIFA 2013 has been announced, and will take place from March 28, 2013 to April 27, 2013. It will once again be anchored around the Kimmel Center, and the theme, “If You Had A Time Machine…” will bring a lobby installation of, “a time machine with interactive technological capabilities in the Kimmel Center plaza,” along with live theater, music, and arts around defining moments in time.
Here’s what we know will be happening so far, centered around certain historical events:
>>>The American Civil War – Bearded Ladies Civil War inspired theatre & cabaret performance
>>>Fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany – a chamber music concert performance by the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia in collaboration with the Mendelssohn Club and The Center For Emerging Visual Artists
>>>The loss of musical legend Billie Holiday – a new play and music performed by Azuka Theatre and American Poetry Review
>>>Harry Houdini’s popular acts and his final performance – a new theater piece by EgoPo Classic Theatre
The full lineup will be revealed in the fall. We can’t wait to see where we can check-in this time.
