After 25 Years Of Cracking Up Your Little Brother, Ween Breaks Up
They were, without a doubt, the finest stoner joke rock band New Hope had ever produced. They were everything Phish fans ever wanted Weird Al Yankovic wanted to be, and everything Weird Al ever wanted the Grateful Dead to be. Gene Ween — government name Aaron Freeman — confessed to Rolling Stone yesterday that he’d left the band, effectively rendering Ween dead. So let us bid adieu to the Weens: They gave us “Fat Lenny,” they gave us the immortal “You Fucked Up,” they even gave us, God help them, “Push th’ Little Daisies.” And lo, it was… Ween. Farewell, bros! Fare thee well!
