Here Is Everything You Need To Know About Morgan’s Pier

From the people who brought you Drinker’s, Lucy’s, and Union Transfer, in conjunction with Dave Pianka of Making Time and The Bowery Presents; comes Morgan’s Pier.

The new beer garden, restaurant, and music venue in the shadow of the Ben Franklin Bridge (221 North Columbus Blvd., location of the former Rock Lobster) will be opening this Friday. Named for the first man to cross the still-unfinished Ben Franklin Bridge (George C. Morgan, who trekked the final 50 feet of the still incomplete foot bridge on a bare support cable 400 feet in the air because he was some kind of psycho), Morgan’s Pier will feature a riverfront beer garden, a menu by Mémé‘s David Katz, and consistent live entertainment.

In addition to Katz’s menu (which features all items priced below $10), the Pier will have a hot dog stand and will serve Phileb-favorite Little Baby’s Ice Cream for those hot summer days. Katz has also invited other famous chefs (Zahav‘s Michael Solomonov, Fork‘s Terence Feury, Kevin Sbraga) to spend a day at the pier in the future, making their ideal summer BBQ for all to enjoy. When it comes to live entertainment, DJs will be curated by Dave Pianka (of Making Time) and a free Saturday afternoon concert series will be booked by R5 Productions (beginning with Bleeding Rainbow on June 9). And on top of that, every Sunday at 3 PM, the deck will present the Sundae Open Air Dance Party.

The opening/Memorial Day weekend schedule is as follows:
>>>May 25th – Opening
>>>May 26th – DJs Dave P. and Sammy Slice
>>>May 27th – The Sundae Open Air Dance Party featuring DJ Rich Medina

We’re pretty psyched about this opening, because if we’re gonna complain about how hot and humid it is, we might as well do it with a beer in hand and a band on stage. You can find out more information about Morgan’s Pier and their opening weekend here.

This is an odd mix of stuff I love & I stuff I do not love at all, but my taste doesn’t matter. I’m just glad there’s SOMETHING there. We should have so much more of this stuff in easy walking distance from Old City. Waterfronts should be fun, not parking lots.

Go to the bar at D’Angelo’s on 20th.  Actually, that’s more like GILF action, but age is just a number – na mean?

I like good food and good live sound. So this is definitely going to make my “to do” list. Not a fan of drinkers though, and wasn’t previously aware of the affiliation.
