Show Off Your Green Thumb In The PHS City Gardens Contest

Do you think you have the greatest garden around? Do you stare out your windows at all hours to make sure no one messes with it? Well, maybe you should get some kind of award for that. And why not get that award in the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society‘s 2012 City Gardens Contest? The contest, which has been going on since 1975, recognizes local gardeners for, “their skillful and inspired gardening.” Individuals can enter front yard, back-yard, vegatable gardens, and container gardens. Commnuity gardeners can enter vegetable and flower gardens, parks and garden blocks. And this year, PHS is introducing five new categories: green roof gardens, rain gardens, xeriscape gardens, water gardens/stormwater management, and gardens featuring native plants, art in the garden, and recycled materials.
