Rutgers Webcam Spy Gets 30-Days In Prison

According to CBS News, A judge sentenced former Rutgers student Dharun Ravi to 30 days in jail for using a webcam to spy on his roommate being intimate with another man. Ravi, 20, was convicted of bias intimidation and invasion of privacy in March for using his webcam to view his roommate Tyler Clementi kissing another man. Clementi killed himself only a few days after the incident.

Judge Glen Berman says he added a notation to his judgement recommending that Ravi not be deported back to India where he was born and remains a citizen.

I am not sure how I feel about this. It’s obvious that he didn’t want to drive the guy to suicide but at the same time, it was a thoughtless fucked up thing to do. The sentence is probably too light. How much too light, I am not sure.
