It’s been a tough week for rock ‘n’ roll, but god damn it if losing Levon Helm doesn’t make it a tough week for humankind. In years and years of enjoying The Band with friends of all ages, we don’t know if we’ve ever came across a more peaced-out, in-it-for-the-music cat than Levon Helm. Long before he was even within earshot of death’s whisper, the man was an inspiration to all types of musicians and songwriters and just plain old fans. We count ourselves among them. And even though we all saw it coming, this one hurts. Rest in peace, Levon. You truly earned it.
