This Evening: Head On Outside, It’s Gorgeous

>>>Some of you may recognize Ann Beattie as the wry author of Chilly Scenes of Winter, a novel that was later adapted into the 1979 cult film. In it, depressed wife Laura tells her overly earnest paramour, “You have this exalted view of me, and I hate it. If you think I’m that great then there must be something wrong with you.” Something of that tenor might be said in favor of Beattie herself, whose latest take on Dick’s wife in Mrs. Nixon: A Novelist Imagines a Life has the New York Times calling it “preposterous,” “narcissistic,” and “self-indulgent.” Perhaps the criticism is a compliment, a wry critique of established greatness. In any event, she’s speaking at the Free Library tonight.
>>>No scuffle with the cops after a Diddy party or rumored attack on a fan who threw a cup at his head can stop this guy from performing: apper Jim Jones of The Diplomats comes through at the TLA. Just keep your plastic where he can see it.
>>>And finally, as we say every time it happens, it’s beautiful out so go ahead and enjoy yourselves.
